Most construction sites and home additions use a 30-yard dumpster, which includes 4 tons and 7 days. Smaller jobs fit a 20-yard. When a dumpster fills up, we swap it for an empty one, and every final invoice includes the landfill scale ticket.

What size dumpster does a construction site need?

Most construction sites and home additions need a 30-yard dumpster, with 6-foot walls and 4 tons included. Smaller renovations and framing jobs often fit a 20-yard dumpster with 3 tons. Both are 22 feet long and 8 feet wide, so they take the same space on site.

Concrete, dirt, brick and sand need a separate 10- or 15-yard dumpster. Heavy debris rules

How do dumpster swaps work on a job site?

A swap means we pull your full dumpster and drop an empty one in the same spot. Each swap is billed as a new flat-rate rental with its own 7 days and included tons. Call when the dumpster is full, and keep the load level with the rim so it can be hauled.

Do I need a debris chute on my construction site?

Yes, if debris drops more than 20 feet to any point outside the building's exterior walls. OSHA requires an enclosed chute in that case. Below 20 feet, follow your site's safety plan for dropping material into the dumpster.

The law: OSHA 29 CFR 1926.252(a). This is general information, not legal advice; confirm with your safety officer.
